Don't let cold weather sideline your exercise. In this Health Smarts video, fitness expert Mike Clark, DPT, says video games can provide a fun rainy-day workout.
Hi, I'm Dr. Clark with a smart tip to stay fit this winter. Cold weather can mess up your motivation to get out and exercise, but you can still keep things moving indoors. Turn video game play into exercise time. Scientist put fitness video game claims to the test, and found that a third of these activities actually qualify as moderate intensity exercise.
That would put them in the same category as walking, these exercises include boxing, tennis and resistance moves. Fitness video games shouldn't completely replace the real thing, but if there's a rainy day or you just don't feel like leaving the house it makes a great cold weather alternative. Some games may even help sharpen your skills in the real world, like your golf swing. So give it a try, and for more ways to stay active and live healthy watch all our smart tips right here.
