What Are L-Carnitine Supplements?

Read Transcript

So L-Carnitine is a type of amino acid that our body uses to metabolize energy, we make all the carnatine we need within out body, the problem is other animals also make all they need for their bodies so when we eat them we can get carnitine where we don't want it in our gut because there are certain gut bacteria that can turn the carnitine into a toxic supplement and increase our risk for heart disease.

Same thing happens when we take carnitine supplements, pure carnitine gets down into our gut, not where we want it those bacteria can work on it, transform it into a toxic compound that can increase our risk of heart disease.
