Watch as Dr. Michael Breus discusses how sleeping with a fan on can help provide a better quality of sleep.
Hi, I'm Dr. Micheal Bruise, the sleep doctor. A lot of my patients ask me this question, will sleeping with the fan on let me sleep better? And the answer is probably so. Having a fan on will do several different things. Number one, it keeps the air circulating which is definitely good for overall respiration.
Number two, it may also have a cooling effect, remember most people sleep better in the cooler environment. And number three, the fan provides a light noise which will drown out other noisy sounds which could waken you throughout the evening.
Michael J. Breus, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and a fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He specializes in sleep disorders and is one of only 163 psychologists in the world with his credentials and distinction.
