Transcript
A cataract is basically a structure inside the eye, which gets cloudier as we get older. So if you look at yourself and you
look at the colored part of your eye, which is your iris, right behind that iris is the lens. And it's that lens that gets cloudy as we get older.
Now there's different types of cataracts. Some is just a general clouding, others there's a plaque, but all of these variations fall into the category of cataract.
We treat these when they become symptomatic. So up to a certain point, we can keep updating your eyeglasses.
You can use more light or make some other adjustments at home to get the best vision that we can for you.
But at some point, the cataracts will get cloudy enough so that our view into the back of the eye is not very clear, and your view to the outside world
is not very clear. That's the time that we can start talking about cataract surgery to take those cataracts out.
