Stuck tampons happen more frequently than you think, says obstetrics and gynecology specialist Dr. Lauren Streicher. Find out why it happens and the common mistake women make when they try to remove a stuck tampon by watching this video.
It happens and it happens more often than you think. A typical scenario is that a woman puts a tampon in she forgets that their tampon is there and then and she put the second tampon, the second tampon pushes the first tampon sideways it stays under the the cervix and it can be really difficult to get out if a woman doesn't know how to do it.
Its easier to get stuck tampon out than you think the key is don't put one finger in because you are just going to end up push back further, you really need to put two fingers in the vagina, kind of really curl it around in the tampon, whether part that you grab is fine, and then just pull it out, don't worry about finding the string because you probably not going to.
Lauren Streicher, MD is assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Streicher is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
