Reducing stress is crucial to managing multiple sclerosis symptoms effectively. In this WisePatient video, integrative neurologist Dr. Kulreet Chaudhary explains why meditation, diet, and exercise are is the foundation of stress management.
In addition to the basics, which is improving the diet because certain foods actually cause stress in the body and exercising more and drinking more water, I am a huge proponent of meditation. I don't even understand how people are walking around anymore without meditating because I think, on a daily basis where [xx] was so much stress, that if we don't have something that we do on a regular basis, that essentially is the reset button, that's what I consider meditation, it's a reset button for your neurochemistry.
To take all the junk that has happened and [xx]. After you're eating well and you're exercising and you're meditating, there's not a whole lot of stress left, I mean, those are pretty major changes. I do recommend certain Ayurvedic herbs, things like Ashwagandha which is an adaptogen so it's a class of herbs that help the body to adapt to stress. None of these are interventions on their own, it's really the global picture.
