It makes it difficult to diagnose, when a patient comes to see me with pain with intercourse, pain with her menstrual cycles, I usually do pelvic exam to just discern exactly what the pain is. Often times I'll do an ultrasound. Sometimes an ultrasound will show something called an endometrioma which is a cyst of endometriosis on an ovary.

Sometimes the ovaries will look like they are here to the uterus. And I can get hints that there could be a problem not until you do a laparoscopy, where you place a scope inside the belly button under general anesthesia can you really diagnose endometriosis. So the short answer to how do you diagnose Endometriosis is through a diagnosed laparoscopy.
