Is Taking Fish Oil As Good As Eating Fish to Get Your Omega-3 Fatty Acids?

In my professional opinion, the bottom line is we still don't know. What we do know is that people who eat fish twice a week are literally 10 times less likely to die from sudden cardiac death than people who don't eat fish. And I think as the science goes along, we'll come to see if fish oil supplements actually have exactly the same benefits.

But here's the thing, fish as a package contains a lot more than just those omega 3's. There's vitamin D, there's selenium, there's iodine, we don't know if that somehow works together in concert to truly give it some unique advantage. So my suggestion is consume fish first if you can twice a week and then fish oil supplements if you can't could be a good second alternative.
