Fibromyalgia sometimes seems to strike out of nowhere. In this video, family medicine specialist Dr. Jennifer Caudle talks about what researchers believe may trigger this painful disease.
Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain syndrome, and characteristically, there is a lot of theories about why Fibromyalgia exists, and how it comes about. Scientists think that there is probably an interplay between genetics some what and also environmental factors, and it is thought that there are often triggers that sort of bring on the condition,
such as stresses, or traumas, things like a car accident, post traumatic stress disorder. So that's also another thought.
Jennifer Caudle, DO, is a board-certified family medicine physician and graduate of Princeton University. She is currently an assistant professor in the department of Family Medicine at Rowan University-School of Osteopathic Medicine.
