What Is Osphena?

Read Transcript

Osphena is a new FDA approved medication to treat postmenopausal painful intercourse or dyspareunia caused by low estrogen state in the vulva vaginal tissues, the other thing Osphena is, it's a class of drug called a SERM, so it's a selective estrogen receptor modulator which means that in certain parts of the body, it's selectively works like estrogen and in a choosy manner and in this case, it's really working in and around the vagina, and stimulates the tissue in that way, but it doesn't have the stimulatory effects that estrogen has in other parts of the body like let's say the breast.
