Some treatment options for fibroids go from all the way
from the conservative to all the way to definitive. So I'm going to start off with the most conservative treatments, and that is birth control pills.
They can also be injections. There are also injections that make you, kind of, menopausal, and that makes the fibroids stable.
So those are really, really great alternatives. If you have a fibroid that's in the cavity of the uterus,
we actually can remove it, and that's a small surgical procedure with no incisions.
We can actually remove it through the vagina, and again, you save your uterus. If the uterus is filled with fibroids
and it's very, very large and you have complications such as anemia, pain, or heavy bleeding,
then we might have to do a hysterectomy. Remember, a hysterectomy means the removal of the uterus
plus it's fibroids plus the cervix. We can leave the ovaries in in that it is very important for you to still
have your estrogen on board, so we can reduce the risk of osteoporosis.
