Do Patients and Physicians Need to Be in Close Touch Over Migraine Medication?

Read Transcript

Absolutely, typically when I start a patient on medication, I see them back in three to four weeks, and then we space it out to maybe six weeks and then a couple of months and it's important to meet with your patients frequently not only to check on side effects on how they like the medication but to check on there progress and to offer encouragement, because it is a controllable disease, but it takes some time and patients also need pep talks to know that they're going the right direction, great job stopping your daily [xx] for example, but it takes about a month before they start to typically feel better in their treatment.
