Dr. Emile Bacha - Do children grow out of heart abnormalities?

Read Transcript

Children who have sort of let's say mild congenital heart defects can grow out of them, specifically smallish holes inside the heart, the heart can close on their own and that's obviously great news, and you can move on to have a normal heart, a normal life. Sometimes it goes the other way round and sometimes some congenital heart defects that can start off more on the simple side if they're left untreated can become worse, and so it's very important to see a cardiologist and be followed for even simple heart defects, so that we don't miss a window of opportunity if there's a treatment to be applied.
