Vaginal dryness can be treated with over-the-counter topical lubricants and/or vaginal moisturizers. A doctor may also prescribe a topical estrogen cream to treat vaginal dryness, says Elizabeth Poynor, MD, PhD, a gynecologist-oncologist in New York.
Remedies can be topical lubricants or vaginal moisturizers. There's a number of nice lubricants and moisturizers now in the market, it's important though that women settle in one and try a variety of them if they are having a problem with one because they do contain preservatives, and they do contain additives that women can be allergic to.
Women can also use very low dose topical estrogens that don't get a high systemic absorption which can be actually considered very safe.
