What Are the Health Benefits of Fermented Foods?

Read Transcript

Fermented foods provide our body with probiotics, and those probiotics help keep our gut health healthy. They'll do three things in particular. One is, they create a barrier kind of a screening to allow good bacteria and nutrients in, and screen out viruses and pathogens. Two, they change the PH balance of our stomach in a way that's favorable for good bacteria but doesn't allow bad bacteria to thrive and then three, it actually activates some of our fighter cells when we need it most to help kill off those pathogens and infections that can get into our system.
