What Kind of Conditions Does a Pain Management Specialist Treat?

Read Transcript

The conditions that I see most of in our people have muscular skeletal pain, for example, arthritis or low back pain or chronic headaches, and what we usually do, is multidisciplinary treatments. So, we try physical therapies, whether it's exercise, formal physical therapy itself or other alternative types of that exercise. We try medication, sometimes we use procedures or surgeries to try to combat the problem from a different point of view. And then we usually use some type of behavioral therapy as well, because, of course, anybody who has chronic pain or pain that refractory to the usual measures will start to have some stress related to that pain, and sometimes stress can also influence the pain itself and make it worse.
