Why Should I Avoid Cleansers or Shampoos That Contain Sulfates?
You should avoid using cleansers or shampoos that contain sulfates because they are alkaline, as opposed an acidic environment, which is better for skin. Watch as dermatologist Cybele Fishman, MD, explains this concept and what to watch out for.

So our skin is meant to be an acidic environment,
and sulfates are alkaline or basic. So what they do is they disrupt the natural barrier of the skin and the natural balance of the skin.
And your skin is just not happy when it's using sulfates. There are many different kinds of sulfates. Probably the worst one is sodium lauryl sulfate,
but I really tend to stay away from all of them. And it's easier than ever now because lots of shampoo companies are making sulfate-free shampoos
