Greek (or Turkish) coffee is boiled because this is the original method of coffee preparation and the cultures that enjoy it stuck with it! In this video, "Medicine Hunter" Chris Kilham explains why this ancient method is still used today.
Greek coffee is boiled because this is actually the original method of coffee preparation that was ever first devised. In antiquity coffee was ground, rather roasted and ground and boiled. This was actually started in Yemen a long long time ago, maybe in the 1100s or so, and that method of coffee preparation moved to the Middle East, in to Turkey, and Greece and they never changed that method of preparation, they liked the way the coffee taste, it's very, very good for you, so they are not using the drip method, they're not using a French Press, they've stack with the very first method of coffee preparation ever devised.
