Are There Natural Remedies for Depression?

There're a number of natural remedies for depression. People can be depressed for a number of reasons, but we do know that certain herbs especially can help with depression. Probably top of the list is Rhodiola rosea. It's a root that comes from Siberia and from Northwestern China. It enjoys many good human clinical studies demonstrating its effectiveness for the treatment of depression, and psychiatrists in the United States are using it right now for depression.

Rhodiola makes you feel very good. So I would say that's No. 1. The other herb that enjoys extensive human clinical studies for depression is St. John's wort. St. John's wort is a European flower, it's now grown all around the world because it's so popular and there are about 30 or so human studies showing that St. John's Wort is effective for the treatment of mild to moderate depression.

Herbs can help, they don't convey the same negative effects that many of the pharmaceuticals do for depression, and I always believe in starting safer and gentler before going to the more aggressive therapies.
