Statins are a class of medicines that interfere with the body's ability to make cholesterol, now although cholesterol has been implicated as a substance that increases your risk of heart disease it's not really the villain it has been painted, cholesterol is absolutely crucial for every cell in your body.

So your body actually manufactures cholesterol. Your body makes cholesterol on something that's very like a factory assembly line. So the end product is cholesterol and there are various people putting together the substances that will become cholesterol and statins are like, if one of those people goes out and takes a lunch break and then never returns, the body's ability to make cholesterol is interfered with by statins.
