How Does Liposuction Work?

Read Transcript

Liposuction is a two-step surgery to remove fat. Now the first step is a small incision that's made near the area that's going to suctioned out, like let's say near the saddle bag area. An injection is performed at that time of an anesthetic and that anesthetic helps to decrease bleeding, helps to make you more comfortable after the surgery, and then the second step of liposuction is literally sucking the fat out using a, to put it simply a metal rod with little holes in it that suctions the fat out.

Typically afterwards patients wear compressive garments like girdles for about three to four weeks afterwards, and the fat that's removed appears to be gone hopefully forever.
