How Does Stress Affect the Skin?

Stress can affect skin health because stress whether it's physical or emotional, actually stimulates the hormone called the cortisol in our skin and high levels of cortisol also stimulates other hormones such as testosterone, so you may see a lot of break outs such as acne regions around the mouth of the jaw line, you can start to see damage and the fine lines around the face and the eyes, so it's important to try to minimize stress but the other thing about minimizing stress is dealing with it in a healthy way.

We know that ways to cope with stress such as smoking, eating sugary sweets or drinking alcohol, will only compound the damage stress is doing to your skin. So take a deep breath, try to get the stress out of your body, exercise regularly, find healthy, natural ways to deal with stress without turning to smoking, alcohol or sugary sweets.
