Some healthy oils and fats are omega 3 fatty acids, olive oil, coconut oil, and ghee (clarified butter); almond butter is also a great option. In this video, cardiologist Alejandro Junger, MD, shares some of his favorite healthy fat essentials.
Where the fats that are healthy are non-hydrogenated fatty acids, and they are actually very necessary, and omega-3 fatty acids, the non-inflammatory fats which come in a lot of vegetables, and the oils that we use in my house are, olive oils which we use for dressings, coconut oil which we use for cooking, and ghee which we use just a little because of it's intense flavor.
There is also good fats in almond butter, which is something that I like to substitute peanut butter for because peanut is a toxic sugar. Peanuts are toxic sugar for a lot of people, so almond butter is better and healthier option.
Alejandro Junger, MD, is medical director and founder of the Clean Program. He attended medical school in Uruguay and completed his training in internal medicine at NYU Downtown Hospital and cardiovascular diseases at Lenox Hill Hospital.
