What Does It Mean to Have Resilience?

Sometimes people think that resilience means you're happy or unaffected, even though you have experienced something traumatic, and that isn't really what resilience is. Resilience is being able to adapt to adversity in a positive way. So for children that means you put one foot in front of the other and you meet your developmental milestone even in the face of all these adversity.

So it doesn't mean that you're unaffected or that you're happy, you can be sad and you can be angry, and you can still be resilient, by completing the school year, by doing what you need to do to get through your life.
