What Happens During a Panic Attack?

Anxiety is a part of all of our lives, sometimes they can be really good, push us into action, make us do things. That's really a good thing for anxiety to have happen in our lives, but sometimes it can be problematic. So when we are feeling anxious, the first thing you want to do always, is slow down, take a deep breath.

You can do that anywhere no one needs to know, but if you can slow yourself down you can think more clearly. The second thing I often recommend is to stop and as yourself what are you anxious about,? What is creating the anxiety? Sometimes, it's something so out of your control that you can say there's nothing I can do about that now, accept it, recognize that you have no control and move on.

But if you do have control, your next question wants to be, what do I want to do about it now? And that may mean, calling someone for help, making a list of things to do, taking a walk doing a distraction and just allowing yourself to sit and be anxious for five minutes. Any of those things can be very helpful but you always want to figure out what the root is, and what you want to do about it, and then put that plan into action.
