We can all stand to reduce stress, and it's especially important for people with ADHD because unresolved stress can worsen symptoms. In this Health Smarts video, Dr. Oz shares a simple deep-breathing exercise to help calm down and chill out.
Hi, Dr. Oz here with a simple exercise to help you relax. Stress can wreak havoc in our lives, as well as create health problems like high blood pressure, or heart disease, and for folks with adult ADHD, unresolved stress often worsens symptoms, causing a vicious cycle that can be hard to break.
Next time stress threatens to overwhelm you, try this simple deep breathing exercise. You're going to lie flat on the floor, with one hand on your belly, and the other on your chest. Inhale deeply, and slowly as you count to five. Your belly button should move away from your spine, and your chest should widen and rise slightly as your lungs full of air, then exhale slowly to a count of seven, till your belly button suck in as you blow out the old air and cribbing back side.
Do 10 rounds of this, and be ready to tackle life stresses. I feel more relaxed just by telling you about this soothing mood. I'm Dr. Oz, check out more of these stress busting tips right here.
