A short attention span can wreak havoc on your work and relationships. In this video, Dr. Oz shares four steps to improve concentration and focus.
Hi, I'm Dr. Oz. Is a short attention span affecting your work habits, relationships or even your attitude? If you need help finding focus, try these four simple strategies. First catch more Zs. Lack of sleep has a direct impact on your brains ability to pay attention. Poor sleep causes daytime fatigue, messes up your memory and impairs concentration.
Go to bed early and get a good night's rest. Next, hit the gym. Research shows exercise is a good attention booster. For people with ADHD, exercise is especially helpful for impulse control and healthy brain function. Find your zen. Practice mindfulness meditation, the two knot distractions and get rid of mental chatter. This ancient mind quieting technique can help you regroup, focus on the present moment and get your work done.
Finally, eat your breakfast. Missing out on breakfast means low blood sugar later the day, and less food to feed your brain cells. Choose complex carbs like fruit and whole grains for your morning fuel and you'll trigger a slow and steady release of blood sugar throughout the day. I'm Dr. Oz.
