Genomic research is making it possible to develop tests to predict your cancer risk. In this HealthMakers video, Dr. Otis Webb Brawley explains how tests for genomic predictors will enhance treatment for breast, lung, and prostate cancer.
In terms of genomic predictors in breast cancer, there are actually a couple that are already on the market, Rolly technology, but that's going to get much much better over the next 10 years, but in breast cancer, there's some already on the market, in lung cancer there's some in testing, in prostate cancer, where we think about half to 60% of prostate cancers that are localized, really double treatment, that's an area where we desperately need a test like this, and I'm not aware of any test that's been developed to this point.
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers among men. Find out what you can do to prevent prostate cancer, learn whether you're a candidate for a PSA test and get information about the symptoms and treatment options.
