Can improving your diet help you quit smoking? Yes. Hi, I'm Dr. Miller. A recent study links eating lots of fruits and vegetables to successfully quitting smoking and staying off cigarettes. Researchers found that smokers who ate the most fruits and veggies were also the most likely to quit.

Experts say more research is needed to understand the link between diet and tobacco use. But they suspected that fruits and vegetables may help with smoking cessation in a couple of ways. First, produce is high in fiber so you feel full that may make you less eager to light up since many smokers confuse hunger with the urge to smoke.

The fiber in fruits and veggies can also help prevent weight gain is sometimes a company needs quitting smoking. Second, some fruits and vegetables actually worsen the taste of tobacco which makes smoking less pleasurable, and while you're an addict, cut back on caffeine, alcohol, and red meat.

All three are known to enhance the taste of tobacco. I'm Dr. Miller, for more ways to nourish your health, check out all our smart tips.
