Exercise can be very helpful in lowering hypertension, and if your blood pressure is just a little bit elevated, many times with exercise you can bring it down. And actually we know that sometimes up to 10% or 10 milligrams of mercury, which is how we measure the blood pressure, so are at about 140, and we want to get you down at least under 130, sometimes a good exercise program can bring you to goal. Regardless of if you need a medication or not, it's always helpful to add the exercise components, because it can reduce the need for higher doses or more types of blood pressure medications.
