Read Transcript

Hi, this is Dr. Oz with a lunch tip that will make your heart happy. Eat a spinach salad with an olive oil based dressing. In a study of healthy women, those who consistently ate leafy greens topped with olive oil had a 45% lower risk of heart disease compared to their peers. So what makes this combo so healthy?

It's packed with B vitamins, heart healthy fats, anti-oxidants, and beta-carotene. These nutrients help reduce heart harming inflammation, prevent plaque build-up in your arteries, and guard against oxidative damage that leads to heart disease. And spinach isn't the only leafy that leads to a healthy heart.

The same study found that cabbage and raw tomatoes were also linked to lower rates of heart disease. Fresh veggies could always do wonders for your heart and overall health, and a splash of olive oil makes them even more powerful. So, don't be shy at the salad bar, for more tips to keep your heart healthy,
