Risks for Parkinson's Disease

Read Transcript

Next question for you. Are there any avoidable risks for developing Parkinson's disease? Yes, there're couple. A recent state found a severe episode of the flu doubles the risk of developing Parkinson's disease, so get your flu shot. Interestingly people exposed to high intensive vibrations that's caused by driving snowmobiles, military tanks or high speedboats had a consistently higher risk of developing Parkinson's to the tune of 33% compared with those exposed to lower intensity vibrations like operating road vehicles.

That's a significant correlation, isn't it? It is. So then would you suggest that people stop driving those high speed vehicles? I would certainly think about it if you are doing it quite a bit, or find someway that you kind of protect yourself from vibrating so much.
