Most people aren't a hundred percent clear on what integrative medicine actually is. In this video, HealthMaker Ulka Agarwal, MD describes this approach, which is a melting pot of sorts for many medical viewpoints.
Integrative medicine is the combination of this traditional allopathic western medicine using medications and the traditional hospital and clinic visits and combining that in a very complementary way with some of the old styles of medicine like iolithic/g medicine that was developed thousands of years in India or traditional Chinese medicine using herbs and other kind of alternative ways of treating illnesses.
And combining this two types of treatments, so using conventional medicine and complementing that with alternative types of treatments, so a mind body like meditation and yoga using botanicals and supplements, exercise, lifestyle change and my area of interest diet changes and complementing that with traditional conventional medicines and traditional treatment.
Ulka Agarwal, MD, works on clinical research studies and nutrition initiatives at the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). She discusses the benefits of a vegan diet to combat obesity and improve overall health.
