When Will We See More Personalized Medicine as Part of Treatment?

I think personalized medicine is already there in some ways, if you could, for example treatment of breast cancer, you could look at certain genetic profiles and make a decision on which medicines they take so that's personalized in a small way. Similarly also they are positive or negative certain antibodies and you make choices well.

So that's the simplest personalized medicine. I think the algorithms are going to get just more and more and when we start to see how large populations who have generic profiles also react to certain medicines or interventions so some people that will respond to statins and some who wont.

Similarly why do people have GI distress with some medicines and not others, we might never know, but I think we have to keep personalizing it, based upon the knowledge and the genom is the piece I think that will help a lot of that.
