What Are the Subjects That Interest You the Most Where Science Doesn't Have an Answer?

Started off as a scientist many many years ago. I was supposed to Aqua Stephen Hawking, and we're trying to understand at that time, what is time? The fundamental nature of space and time. Quantum Physics it tells you all about particles and how those particles interact, and the forces that mediate interactions between particles.

It doesn't tell you about the arena in which these particles particles interact which is space and time. General relativity which reinsattes theory of gravity, is a way of describing space and time, but it's clearly not complete because it can't really be rhythm cellular with quantum theory, which we know its true.

Now, in 30 years since I was working in that area, people have made some incremental progress in understanding some things, but it's wide open right now the LHC Large Hadron Collider is running away collecting data, and all the word's physicists that care about this fundamental topics are wondering will it give us a new clue.

The old clues, the basis of the clues that we had when I was in graduate school are pretty much the clues that people have today, and so physics is an interesting bind. You either find a brilliant guy with a brilliant new idea that will work with old clues or clues nobody else thinks there's a clues.

Einstein was a guy like that. Einstein came up with some amazing theories that were not questions directly begged by any single experiment. General relativity his theory gravity is probably the best one. He reasoned about that with a thought about doing physics inside an elevator, and could he tell the difference between an accelerating elevator and gravity and decided he couldn't.

No one else in the world thought that would have been a clue. You could have put all the road signs in an elevator and none of them would have gotten that as a clue. So, right now, we have tried now for 30 years to really understand a quantum structure of space and time arguably maybe 50 years we've tried to understand that.

We've made incremental progress of [xx] theories, but it's still wide open.
