There are many factors related to the level of dementia which can be associated with Parkinson's disease including age, sex and cognitive activity, explained by Melissa Houser, MD, a neurologist at Scripps Health, in this video.
It will differ with the type of Parkison's we presumed with that we discussed, it differs with your sex, men tend to get a little bit more than women it would differ upon your baseline, mental status testing and how many neurons you had to begin with. It would differ on your level of cognitive activity, for instance staying active in work, staying active in the community, keeping those synopsis going maybe taking up a musical instrument, learning it so it differs on varying factors.
But most patients with Parkinson's disease probably are only only about 85% do report some deterioration of memory cognition above and beyond what you would expect with age much appears.
Melissa Houser, MD, is the clinical director of the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Center at Scripps Clinic in San Diego. She discusses research into causes and treatment of Parkinson’s disease, including stem cell research.
