What Kind of Training Does a Peer Mentor Receive?

Read Transcript

So the Peer Mentors go through the same sensitivity training that we want to implement nationwide,. They go through the hands on modules, they do the mirrors, the do the balance balls. In addition to that, they have lectures, they know autism, they know disabilities, they become educated on it, and the more importantly they learn how to work with children with autism, they learn how to get to their level, how to interact, how to teach them.

At the end of the game, the motto of our organization has always been kids helping kids. They go from, as I mentioned before, doctors, and therapists, and teachers. At the end of the day we don't want that, we want kids helping other kids, and that's what's been so successful so far.
