The majority of breast cancers in the U.S. have been sensitive to hormone therapies. In this video, HealthMaker Laura Esserman, MD, director of the Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center, UCSF, discusses hormone therapies for breast cancers.
So hormone therapy has been one of the most effective treatments that we have ever for breast cancer. 60 to 70% of risk cancer are hormone positive in this country. No so much said in Africa, that's probably the reverse, but for here, for the United States the majority of the cancers that we find are sensitive to hormone therapy and we've had better therapies and we hope that in the pipelines there are some even better ones, but they are a critical part of our treatment.
Laura Esserman, MD, MBA, is a surgeon and breast cancer oncology specialist at the UCSF Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center. She talks about breast cancer prevention and screening, as well as the latest advances in breast cancer treatment.
