Why Is There Little Focus On Preventive Health Care In the U.S.?

Well think the financial incentives and the reimbursement systems are all wrong. The affordable care act just introduced some provisions where preventive services don't have a co-payment, that's pretty much a first, but we did the study of women's preventive health services, the IOM, and the only thing that people focused on from that report was birth control.

IOM recommends free birth control but all the other kinds of preventive measures for women, domestic violence screening, all different kinds of things are really go together and we tend to think of things in isolation but there's no isolation, and we don't give docs enough time to do these things with their patients.

When I say docs I mean the whole healthcare setting not just a physician, but the whole clinic setting all of these things we just don't have enough time.
