What's the Benefit of Patients Using the Internet to Find Health Information?

I would say it's ethically inappropriate for us as healthcare providers to ignore this whole new set of data, to just sort of be arrogant and say it doesn't exist and I only want to see data when the patient is in front of me. Now, it's actually people coming out of their training don't think that way, so part of that is generational.But the other is, we really owe it to our patients to engage with them with anything they bring us, and that's something new with the advent of the internet as a platform for learning that people bring in.

Essentially every single patient I see has some opinion about their condition based on what they've read on the internet and if I just say I don't want anything to do with that, I'm not creating good relationship with them. So it's really twofold I think.
