Giving Consumers Control of Their Health

In the future quantified self, we'll just be life. We believe that self tracking will just be a part of your life the way that mobile phones are going, the way that sensors are going, it's very, very easy that you captivate about yourself and more and more so we do it every single day.

Our perspective really is that the future of healthcare should be actually about consumers, and it should be about engagement, and it should be about actually thinking rather than through the lens of a doctor, to a patient. How do we build products and how do we build businesses that first engage a consumer and then use that as the vehicle to start educating them about their health.

We can create a project, a diabetes project which your doctor can share with you, gives you as a patient and say, here are the things in your life that we'd like you to track. Now diabetes is brilliant because lifestyle plays the biggest impact in development of diabetes. So if you exercise, the kind of food that you eat, the stress that you feel, the amount of sleep that you get, those four things are very, very easy to track nowadays through a smartphone and you don't actually need to buy any separate piece of hardware, you can do with free Apps also prating, based on the data you've put into the track, learning what is the right intervention to have with that individual, there's complete appellate to them, there's complete texturize to what that data says that they need, so they suddenly break this rule to the consumer waving unloyalty cards.

Our big driver is how do we find ways to educate consumers and engage them in something completely relevant good for them, we're living in a world where we generate data about ourselves every single day, everything we did generate data about ourselves, and often we've never seen that vision out, so have you ever seen how many emails you send in a given day or how long you spend in a meeting, maybe how much time you waste emailing people you shouldn't email, all of that can be visualized, you can then learn from it and then hopefully adapt your behaviors based on what you learn.

Our belief is that you only share data if you like to, it's your data you can take it out of Tick Track we'll delete it at any time you want, our notion is all the different devices that you use that you generate data from, bring them into Tick Track. If you'd like to share them with an expert who can interpret it can, if you don't, you don't have to.

[xx] can be engaging and can be fun to look at infographics, they say it doesn't have to be so boring so the notion in gamification is finding ways to gamify the experience, sort of creating a fun experience for you to learn about your health data, and then act on it. Through a smartphone you can see very, very easily without huge behavior changes, basic statistics about your life, how well you sleep, you can log how much you eat, you see how much activity you do.

There so many devices that help you do, and also we generally believe that individuals now have the ability to take much, much more control over their health. We're hoping that they'll be able to take much, much more control over their data, and they can then decide if they want to share with people in exchange for expertise or not.
