Healthy diet and nutrition is something we overlook in America, says HealthMaker Catherine Shanahan, MD, a family physician. In this video, Shanahan offers up her solution to spread the word about the true value of food.
I think the American public is truly coming to understand that nutrition is something we've overlooked. I mean, take a look at how much alternative medicine is taken off. Unfortunately, nutrition is seen as a subset of the alternative medicine world. But chiropractors, massage therapists, life coaches, physical trainers, they are all busy teaching people about real nutrition, about the value of food.
So, I think it is happening. The only way to make it easier and faster, honestly, is to have a serious discussion, a examination of our food chain. We can't have where you fly over the middle of the country. What's down there? Well, you know it's corn, canola, soya and may be two other things.
That's a recipe for a malnourished country.
Family physician Catherine Shanahan, MD, believes diet, nutrition and home cooking are the foundation of good health that can help prevent chronic diseases and promote healthy aging.
