If a Woman Is Diagnosed with Breast Cancer, Does She Have a Risk for Ovarian Cancer?

Well if women have a history of ovarian or breast cancer in their family, they would be at a high risk for developing ovarian. They certainly should talk to their doctors about that. A more specific gene called the BRCA or the BRCA2. BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene and that actually confers risk for both breast and ovarian.

So if a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer and it's uncertain of her genetic history, she should certainly talk to the doctor about genetic counselling and then perhaps go through genetic counselling to determine if she might be positive for the mutation and either of those genes.
