What Does the Future of American Healthcare Look Like?

The problem is, and this I think applies to other questions of the sort, is that as dysfunctional as the health care system is, it's generating rivers of money, and that money is flowing into very few pockets, it's the pockets of the big pharmaceutical companies and manufacturers of medical devices and the big insurers.

And those vested interests don't want to see anything change and they have total control of our legislators, as a result of which there's no hope of seeing change come from the government or from elected officials. It doesn't matter whether they are Democrats, Republicans, Liberals, Conservatives it's all the same.

The only way this is going to change I think is through education, through a raising of consciousness, through enough people getting aroused enough about these issues to start a grass roots movement that changes the balance of political power.
