Don't Let Light Pollution Interfere With Sleep & Weight Loss

Hi, Dr. Oz here with a surprising source of pollution that can affect your sleep, mood, and weight. I'm talking about light pollution. Here are three great reasons to ensure your bedroom is as dark as you can make, dim your obesity risk. Night time light seems to disrupt your body's internal dinner bell, making it ring time to eat at the wrong times, and prodding you to eat more.

Avoid a hidden depression trigger, whether it's a glare of a street light, or the glow of a computer screen. Having lights on while you are sleeping can reduce connections between your brain cells, and that can boost your risk for depression, help prevent cancer. Several studies showed that light exposure at night increase your risk of some cancers.

Light at night, they encourage tumor growth, and prostate cancer rates are higher in countries with the most night time illumination. So do what it takes to get your nightly caution of darkness, pull down the shades, close the curtains, or use a sleep mask, and sleep well.
