Hi, I'm Dr. Altman with some smart strategies to manage temper tantrums. Tantrums are more common among young kids, and frustrating for parents. Here are five ways to put a stop to your kid's fists, ignore the behavior, if you walk away or don't pay attention, your child will likely stop.

Give him a time out. Take a location in your house where your child must sit or stand for a few minutes or until she calms down. One minute every each year of age is appropriate. Refocus your child on something else. I like to walk to the other side of the room announce mummy is going to read a book and start reading out loud.

My son usually quiets down and joins me. Avoid situations likely to cause a tantrum, if he always melts down in your second erand limit each outing to one. Leave the location. If you're in a public place, simply take your child and leave, I know it's hard to do when you're in a grocery checkout line or the middle of a restaurant meal, but it works.
