Child Obesity and Learning

Read Transcript

Let's go on to our second question, can obesity in children affect learning? It definitely can. A recent study has found that children who are overweight or obese have more learning problems. They have more trouble with math, spelling and attention than their peers of normal weight.

At this time 32% of children in our country are overweight or obese. Now do you think if parents knew this, they'd be more attentive to their children's diet and activities? I hope so and also I think parents need to model that activity and healthy eating because then children will do it.

Good point.
