In the United States, it's said to be one per 1000, so 0.1% is the prevalence, the number of people who have multiple sclerosis, and the further you go from the equator, either north or south, the incidence gets higher and higher. The area with the highest incidence in the world is the Orkney islands off of Northern Scotland, where the incidence, the prevalence there is 400 per 100,000.
