Hi. Dr. Miller here. Do you love a night out at the movies? So do I. But I don't love the fatty,
salty, sugary snacks sold at the movie theater snack bar. In fact, the menu is the scariest thing
playing at the movie theaters these days. It's easy to fall for the supersize upsell, you know, when the clerk says for $0.50 more you can get the next size.
Before you say sure, check this out. A medium popcorn and soda clock in at up to 1,610 calories
and 60 grams of saturated fat. That's like eating one to two sticks of butter. And that's before the clerk pours on the buttery topping.
Sodium levels as high as 1,500 milligrams-- that's a day's worth for most people-- in a large tub of movie theater popcorn
makes things even harder on your waistline and blood pressure. It makes the supersized candy at 400 to 1,000 calories
look almost healthy. Here's a better strategy. Sneak in a bottle of water and a pocket full of nuts,
and enjoy the show. For more ways to safeguard your health, watch all our smart tips. [HEART BEATING] [AUDIO LOGO]
