Fight Cancer With Horseradish

Read Transcript

Hi, I'm Dr. Kevin Soden. Next time you make a sandwich add some kick with horseradish. Horseradish is a cruciferous vegetable. This puts it in the same family as broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, arugula, water crest and wasabi to name a few. It turns out these veggies are important sources of cancer fighting compounds.

When you munch on these foods and these compounds get broken down, they turn into cancer fighting vital chemicals. These vital chemicals get cacinogens out of your body before they do damage to your DNA. They also help block the action of cancer causing hormone. It's no wonder studies show that people who eat more cruciferous veggies have less cancer.

So add horseradish and its cruciferous skin into your diet. It will add kick to your meals and pack a cancer fighting punch. For more foods that fight cancer, watch all our smart tips right here.
